Today I dared myself to go even further into the realm of colours with green eyeshadow, and I don’t mean some dark green colour, more like light green almost aqua! So, did I turn out like some 70′s porn star? Or did it turn out ok?
First, I’ll tell you which eyeshadow palette I used. It’s from Australis, the Intensifeye Eyeshadow Trios in Out of The Blue. I got this yesterday from Priceline after hearing that they were having their 20% off sale. Can’t beat that right? What was originally $11.95, I only paid $9.56. Good value – if you like aqua! Although the palette states it’s “blue” I thought the colours were more of an aqua shade – unless I’m colour blind? The palette can also be used wet or dry. So this was what I did.
First I used the mid tone – light bluish green colour on my lids, then I applied the darker aqua on the crease and close to my lid line. The darker aqua didn’t blend nicely when I did that and I ended up looking like a clown, so I used a smudging brush to try and save whatever that has been done – in other words; blend the eyeshadow. Next I used the white to highlight my brows and on the inner corner of my eyes. To accentuate my eyes even more, I dip a fine brush in water and used the darker aqua to line the upper lid of my eyes, and then overlapped that with the Face of Australia liquid eye liner. I used the Diva Derme Lash Extenders again to give some length and volume to my lashes.
Seeing that the colour gave me some kind of a shock at first, I was a bit overwhelmed by what shade of lipstick to apply to go with the look. At first I applied my fuchsia lipstick but having heard my Miss 8 said, “Mummy I think you have too much make-up on“, to me, I immediately wiped it off and applied the Australis Cosmetics Colour Inject Mineral Lip Gloss in Jazz instead (I got this in the Australis gift bag from ABBW a few weeks ago) . It’s sort of a sheer fuchsia gloss, not as intense as the fuchsia lipstick. The result:
My verdict? I really didn’t like the colour. I might use the darker aqua but combine it with some other colour next time. Probably pink? I felt uncomfortable all day, wondering if I looked like a clown – but I think it must have been due to the fact that I’m just not used to wearing bold colours. It also reminded me of my Mum when she was in her 20s. Or, this one Mum at school who loves wearing light blue and white eyeshadow. But, the thing is, it’s so her. It suits her to a tee – complete with her dreadlocks. It’s just so, not me though.
What do you think? Yes or no?

I know who you’re talking about! No, you look nothing like that but I have to agree with you – too many 80s vibes for me with those colours.

I really like it and would totally wear it. I love the 80′s colours and wear blue all the time. I even got myself some royal blue mascara – bring back the 80′s I say! N x
