Jet Peel from Paramedical Skin Clinic – Review

As I mentioned in my post on “Facial Exercises“, I was going for a Jet Peel treatment on Saturday.  orry for this delayed post, I know I promised that it would be up on Monday, but I was waiting on the before and after photos from the Paramedical Skin Clinic and have yet to receive them as they’ve had some computer glitches the past few days. Anyway, here’s what happened.

Paramedical Skin Clinic has two branches one in Thornberry and the other at the Como in South Yarra. My appointment was at the Como.  The set up at Paramedical Skin Clinic was clean, aesthetically pleasing to the eye and I was greeted by (beautiful) and very friendly staff. First, I had to do the formalities of filling in the forms with my details, including any medical and allergy information. Then, I was taken to a room by Derya (she looks GORGEOUS btw), my therapist to take some “photos”. No, not glamour shots (I wished). She used the VISIA Skin Analysis Machine, which took photos of my face from all angles (sides and front). The machine then analysed my skin, stating the amount of sun damage, bacteria, blackheads, wrinkles, the whole she-bang! Not a pretty sight I tell you. Ilesha Haywood, the owner and skin specialist then came in to explain what the different percentages all meant as well as discussed the concerns I had with my skin (hmm…where’s that endless list?!). She was very thorough and really knew what she was talking about when she analysed the results. I was amazed at the amount of sun damage my skin had and was not impressed with the level of care I have been giving my face. To make things more complicated, I was diagnosed as having oily but dehydrated skin – hence the lines and super enlarged pores. After the analysis, I was taken to the treatment room.

Derya attended to me, first going through the legal necessities, then proceeded to cleanse and exfoliate my face. She then started with the Jet Peel treatment. What did it feel like? Freezing cold air blasting on your face! Literally. Good thing the electric blanket was on and the air conditioner was turned off. If you imagine the Karcher blasting your car to clean it of debris, well, that’s what it reminded me off. Only not as painful, but that’s what it’s like. After that, Derya did some extraction, and then added some sun screen on my face. The treatment took around 30-40 minutes only. What’s the feeling I had after the treatment – refreshed! I went to look at my face afterwards and I COULD see a difference. The skin on my cheekbones felt lifted, and my skin looked heaps cleaner, lighter and fresher. We then took more photos with the VISIA, and compared the before and after photos – AMAZING difference! From the photos I could see that my skin looked tighter, lighter and lifted. I was impressed.

According to Ilesha, it would take 6 weeks of treatment to see a lot more improvement in my skin. For those with thicker skin and acne, it would normally take 12 treatments. The cost is a lot higher than that of Microdermabrasion, but the upside is, there is NO DOWNTIME. You can have a treatment and then go out like you never had anything done. Seriously. The cost per Jet Peel treatment is usually $720, but the special they are having gets you an extra 3 complimentary treatments when you purchase 3 upfront, costing you $2160 all up.

I was also introduced to the skincare products they carried; Cosmedix. Knowing that I needed really good skincare products for my face, I treated myself to them and purchased the items I needed. Would I go back for the rest of the Jet Peel treatments? Here’s my thoughts on it:

If I was working and making huge amounts of money or was married to a tycoon that would pay for my treatments, then YES! But for now, I’ll just contend myself with taking care of my skin as best as I could. So, it’s basically, I LOVE the treatment and what it has done to my skin, within that short amount of time, but unfortunately can’t really afford it right now.

After a few days, the area around my T-Zone is not as oily as it used to be. I’m not too sure if it’s from the Jet Peel treatment or a combination of that and the skin care range I’m using right now. I would have to see in a week’s time if the condition of my skin would still be the same. I would LOVE to show you the before and after photos from the VISIA, but I’m still waiting for them to be emailed to be from the Paramedical Skin Clinic. Hopefully it will be soon.

OMG, this looks a great way to have nice feeling skin, but unfortuately way out of my price.

Yes, I hear what you’re saying. Stay tuned for my post later on, closer to the end of the year, where I come to a realisation about the ageing process…or at least MY coming to grips with it! :)

Tried this last week and LOVED it!!! I know it’s on the expensive side but it’s sooooo much better than any other facial I’ve ever had. My skin felt so refreshed afterwards and even after one treatment it was easy to see how much better it looked. The sensation is like having a nice firm face massage. I’ll be doing this again – traditional day spa facials aren’t going to get a look in from now on, whatever the cost!!!

Yes, it felt like a blast of cool air for the face really! I’m glad you enjoyed the treatment. The results I think are well worth the money, if you can afford it :)

I went to the Paramedical Skin Clinic about a year and a half ago and had the package of micro dermabrasion and IPL (similar to the Jet peel package of buy upfront and get complimentary ones free). Spent over $3500 which included Cosmedix skin care. Wasn’t overly impressed toward the end of treatment i must say. The results i got was no where near what i was told i would get. I had some pigmentation and some tiny veins on my face and of course some lines around my mouth and dehydrated skin. During the treatment also had laser hair removal as touch ups, as i had my brazilian and under arms done 9 years ago at a different place (really happy with these results and not that much re growth). There was no difference in the touch ups and on last treatment was actually so painful that i had to ask the girl to stop. Hair removal doesn’t bother my that much in general. I was so red and burnt where you could see the laser lines. i had to ask for ice packs straight away. Went home and more ice packs and some aloe vera from the garden. My underarms blistered up and for 3 days couldn’t put my arms down without pain. Thank god i didn’t have my brazilian done that day! Called them and asked to speak to Illeisha, manager, and got no response. It was my last session and i guess they got their money. My face looks slightly different, though my mum and some girlfriends didn’t think so :( the capillaries around my nose didn’t go and are the same too. I’ve asked for the before and after photos too and get the “there’s a computer glitch or that they’re transferring to a new system so have to transfer the pics to it”. I did have to go back there for something else where Illeisha happened to be there. She didn’t even bat an eyelid when i told her and was more interested in telling me the Jetpeel would be great for my skin on top of having that more IPL and micro (the same plan i had not long ago had!) and quoted me almost $6000….i couldn’t believe it. It was going to cost me more then what i had already had done in the first place…. Would be cheaper to have had a mini face lift! Now i’m 37 so not that old and my face wasn’t that bad, just wanted some rejuvenation and the other things i mentioned earlier. i did notice the amount of staff turn over while i was there too. though they are all friendly)
Anyway, long story but very disappointed! It’s not a cheap thing to have done. I hope that maybe i’m a small amount of clients with disappointing results and service and others have been really happy. Cheers.

Hi Tash, thank you so much for sharing this. It’s great to get feedback from customers who have tried their treatments; good or bad. Just out of curiosity, how did you find the Cosmedix range of skincare? I know I spent quite a bit of money on what they recommended on the skincare range.

Having visited many clinics in Melbourne that offer dermal therapies I can honestly say that the Paramedical Skin Clinic is the last place I would get treatments done. My experience was that Illeisha’s only focus was to make as much money as possible, I feel that the advice I received elsewhere to be much more focused on my skin and the results I would actually expect rather than pressuring me into spending over $8,000 on a pack of treatments whilst mentioning various celebrities that promote the clinic. Also while Illeisha refers to herself as a ‘doctor’ she isn’t actually a medical doctor, and certainly not a dermatologist (or a medical doctor who has had years of advanced medical training in dermatology to be certified as a dermatologist). Additionally I feel that the range of treatment tools provided at the clinic to be quite limited, for example there are no laser based treatments at all.

I’m googled “paramedical skin clinic bad experience” to see whether anyone else had disappointing results like I’ve had. I was getting IPL on my face but precision seems to be lacking and I’m left with a red mark likes. They seem focused on money rather than client outcome and I’m kicking myself that I went these these charlatans rather than a real doctor.

I too have had shocking experiences at Paramedical Skin Clinic..but as a therapist! Too many to mention that id like to forget but you ladies are right..it is all a con, especially the price of the ‘new’ Jet Peel! Ilesha Haywood is as fake as a cheap rolex and really hope will soon be found out to be so before she damages any more peoples skin. Problem is that she treats the celebs & bloggers with 5 star treatment to create the perfect image and yet treats her staff like dogs. As as for the Doctor title..oh please, that too is a con and yet no one seems able to stop her!

two words, STAY AWAY. In my dealings with her it is my opinion this Illesha woman’s number 1 priority is to get each client to spend as much money as they possibly can, NOT in finding the best treatments suitable for their skin concerns. Ive seen people direct debit transfer money into their account for her ridiculously prices ‘treatment packs’ on their computer at the front desk… clients actually having to go behind the front desk and use their computer log onto netbank and transfer the money then and there, could their agenda be anymore obvious ? i have never seen this done at any other business ‘paramedical’ or otherwise

She IS very knowledgeable on how to best treat and maintain great skin but i dont believe she would use that information if it means she will loose a sale, by that i mean if she knows that a client’s skin concerns would be best treated with a treatment tool which she doesn’t have, and i believe her array of equipment is VERY limited AND outdated, i don’t believe for a second she would say ‘actually you will attain better results with a fraxel laser treatment which we don’t offer but here are some great clinics which do’ i imagine her approach would be to ‘custom’ design one of her ‘packages’ of ipl and jet peel treatments which cost up $8000 – $9000 and push it upon them with all her pushy sales techniques. and BTW before you even consider paying the price she asks for those jet peel treatments, do a quick search to see if there has been any actual research done on it. then do some research on the treatments she doesn’t offer, which do have a wealth of established research out there proving great results and often cost the same as this ‘jet peel’ nonsense she claims is so great.

anytime somebody mentions danni minogue multiple times during a skin consultation id be worried
