I’m sure I’ve shared previously how I usually switch the products I use for my skincare routine depending on the seasons. For instance in Winter, I would usually use products that would help hydrate my skin. The moisturisers I use would also be slightly heavier. I would also add some facial oils to my nightly skincare routine. When it comes to the warmer months, I would naturally use lighter creams to suit my combination to oily skin. But what about the “in-between” seasons? Seasons like Autumn and Spring?
I call these the “in-between” seasons because they’re seasons that are not too cold, nor are they too hot. The heavier moisturisers would be too heavy still, yet the lighter ones I use would tend to be too light. What we need are products that would help balance this while our skin try and adapt to the changing seasons. I sometimes liken this to a snake that’s changing its skin. Yes I know, gruesome comparison, but it’s true!
For instance, my lips would seem to chap a lot easily in Spring rather than Winter. Maybe it’s the wind, sun and rain, or maybe it’s my body adjusting to these changes.
It’s time to bring out the big guns during these “in-between” seasons and while I still apply lip balms religiously, I need some extra boost to stop my lips from chapping. Dermalogica’s Age Smart range has a super strong lip product that not only tastes yummy, but helps to repair and protect your lips against free radicals. Plus being the age that I’m at right now (40+), I need a product that helps to moisturise and smooth the lines on my lips!!
Ingredients in the *^Dermalogica Age Smart Renewal Lip Complex (rrp$32.56) include, hyaluronic acid to help with hydration and elasticity, vitamin E, avocado oil, shea butter and coco butter to help smooth the skin and palmitoyl oligopeptide to help condition the lips.
Another favourite of mine is the Uriage Bariederm soothing barrier repair lip balm (rrp$11.90). This doesn’t have any taste to it, but is super thick and hydrating on the lips. Sometimes I even use this on my cuticles!
Everyone is different when it comes to choosing the perfect moisturiser for their skin, and I’m no exception. I do have my favourites from brands I trust, like Bioderma, Uriage and Dermalogica.
During the “in-between” seasons like Spring, I tend to use something that’s not too light, yet not as heavy as ^Bioderma’s Hydrabio Riche creme I use in Winter. Uriage’s Aquaprecis Refreshing Cream Gel would be too light on my skin during these months, so I would switch my moisturiser to *Dermalogica’s Active Moist (rrp$60), which is oil-free, but still helps combat any dehydration.
The perfect combination of protection without the oiliness. Underneath the Active Moist moisturiser, I usually apply ^Nuxe Nuxellence Eclat Anti-Aging day serum (rrp$64.95), instead of ^Bioderma Hydrabio’s serum.
I don’t change too much around, just the little things that do make a difference. What about you? Do you usually change the products you would use for the different seasons?
