Fashion Resolutions

Fashion Resolutions

We’re coming to the end of January already – wait, WHAT?!  I had to do a double take there when I looked at the digital calendar on my laptop because, really, how quick was that?  Didn’t we just celebrate the New Year a few days ago?  Ok, so maybe I’ve been in holiday mode to notice what date it actually was, especially seeing that my younger two started back at school today (hooray!!).  Which takes me to this week’s post title – Fashion Resolutions.

I don’t believe in making New Year resolutions because I know I can never keep them.  Ever.  But then I thought, Fashion Resolutions?  That’s got to be slightly easier to reach right?

Fashion Resolutions

I seldom follow trends, well, at least the ones that I know I won’t feel comfortable wearing.  So I thought, why not live a little?  Take a walk on the wild side and if it doesn’t sit well with me, then I won’t have to wear it ever again.  What were the fashion resolutions I made this year?

  • To wear items that were on-trend this year – at least ONE this year.
  • To wear dresses more often, because goodness knows I have a whole lot of them in my wardrobe, I just need to bother to wear them.
  • To wear pieces I have long “forgotten” about – this is a great way to decide whether to keep or cull an item from your wardrobe.

There, these were easy enough resolutions to follow through right?  And on Saturday, I actually hit my first one – to wear items that were on-trend this year, which in my case was an off-shoulder dress!

I wore this lace off-shoulder *^dress from Boohoo to Miss 14’s birthday lunch.  I know SHE’S the birthday girl, but didn’t mean I couldn’t dress up a little right?  The dress also has two layers of tulle underneath the skirt and is also lined.  Surprisingly, the top part of the dress sat rather well, without needing me to keep on pushing the straps to stay where they should.  Although I think it could have been a little bit more fitting on the bodice – I’m in between an 8 and a 10 with Boohoo dresses, so, while it was comfortable for having a big meal (which I did), I might take it in a little to have a better fit around the waist.

I kept the whole outfit simple with just a silver initial necklace and a pair of earrings, to let the dress with all that lace do the “talking”.

So that’s one resolution down, of course there’ll be more trends I’ll be daring myself to wear too throughout the year.  Have YOU set a fashion resolution?
