Beauty Beat: Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

Beauty Beat: Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

Is there such a thing as the ONE highlighting palette that can do all the highlighting you need for your face?  If you’re wondering what highlighting is, check out my previous post here where I shared the different beauty terms I’ve picked up so far.  I know that there are just so many options out there for you to choose from, so much so that I CAN get a little daunting to know which ones are right for you.  The answer really is all about experimenting with what’s out there, starting at a lower price point to play with.  Knowing which type of highlighter you’re more comfortable with takes a lot of experimenting, believe me, I know because that’s what I’ve been doing.  I do have my favourites, but I have to admit that don’t stick to just that one brand or type to do my highlighting.

I’ve featured products from Sleek previously and I have to admit that I do love the quality of their products AND the prices that are perfect for a budget friendly beauty junkie.  I was sent the Sleek Solstice Highlighting palette $14.99 recently and finally got to have a play with it today.

The palette features 4 highlighters – 2 in baked powders, 1 cream formula and 1 in a silky shimmer powder.

If you’re wondering what goes where on your face, the box comes with instructions and numbers on which highlighter to put on where – super handy!

To highlight my brow bone, I used the cream based highlighter (Ecliptic), then I added some shimmer to my cheekbones with the baked highlighter with the purplish-pink shade (Hemisphere).  Don’t worry, it didn’t come out pink at all but added a lovely, soft shimmer to my cheekbones.

I used the silky shimmer powder (Subsolar) on the bridge of my nose and finally, the other baked highlighter with the slightly bronze/gold shade (Equinox) on my cupid’s bow.  You could of course use the brush that comes with the palette or your own brush, but I used my fingertips to apply all 4 highlighters.

I took several photos to try and capture the result but well, I either need to apply A LOT more for photographing purposes or my photo taking skills are probably crappy.  I even tried taking photos in different areas with different lighting.

The results in real life though was phenomenal!  I promise you!  I loved it and even Miss 13 said it looked really good – not over the top – giving me that lovely glow without making me look like I have an oily face at all.

So, if you’re on the look out for a highlighter that’s easy to use and create different effects for your face, I highly recommend the Sleek Solstice highlighting palette!
