Fashion Day: Styling the {Yet Another} Black Dress

Fashion Day: Styling the {Yet Another} Black Dress

Could one be any prouder by the way they dress?  I mean, seriously, I’m just an average dresser, I love simple lines, simple pieces that go together nicely without having me think too much.  Which is why I’m pretty proud to be average.  Sure I won’t get noticed as a fashion blogger, but then again I’m not exactly one am I?

The black dress – in any shape or form – is just that.  Simple but such a classic that by adding different pieces to it can create quite a number of different looks.  I’m not embarrassed to say that I have quite a number of simple black dresses and all in different styles too.  I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of it honestly.  All you need is something that fits well, suits your body type or shape or even personality in a rather good quality and really, the world’s your oyster.  Ok, maybe not the world but well, dressing up or down could not be any easier.

I recently discovered Betty Basics through someone I follow on Instagram – @perthbargaingal – and when I checked out their website, I was pretty impressed with the range it had.  Inexpensive and really.. BASIC!  My two favourite things!!  As I mentioned last week, I bought two pieces from them, a striped midi skirt and a black dress.  The order came through a few days later and I have to say I was pleased with my purchases!  The quality was pretty good actually, comfy and they also fitted perfectly.  I bought a 10 in both the dress and skirt as I wasn’t too sure on the length.  I could have gone with an 8 for the dress as it’s pretty roomy, so because of the larger size I chose, it’s definitely something I would need to wear something underneath with to hide my cleavage!

Styling the Black Dress

The dress is rather soft and flowing, with an asymmetrical sort of style.  It is rather on the thin side, so if you’re self-conscious like me, then wear a camisole underneath.

I’ve worn this dress once so far and this will definitely be coming with me on my trip to Vietnam!  It is so easy to pack, and doesn’t really crease if I pack it properly.

If you layer it well with something underneath, a cardigan and a coat plus some leggings or stockings, I bet you that this will be a great piece to have during the colder months too!  But for now, this will probably go on high rotation during the warmer months for me!

There are many more ways I can style this dress – just like any other black dress – because it’s such a classic piece!  Remember, classics last!  Or get one with a twist like the one I’m wearing, which has a unique seam line.
