Remember this dress I featured a few weeks ago?
And then I went ahead and decided to make a purchase? Last week, I also shared my hits and misses from Boohoo, and this particular dress happens to be one of those hits!
As promised, here is the ^Boohoo cutaway midi dress styled my way.
Because the bodice is pretty high up and I am rather short, I decided to add a thick bronze belt around my waist to give an illusion of a longer torso. I do have a short torso as well so such dresses do cut me off and make me look stumpy. The bodice is also rather fitted, which means you or in this case I can actually go without a bra. In fact I think it would look better without one. In the images I’ve shared here, I have actually worn a strapless bra, which lifts up everything and makes me look like I have something about to bulge up the sides due to the cutaway style of the bodice.
The dress is made from what they would call a “scuba” material – it is stretchy and has a bit more drape than the usual stretchy polyester materials. It can be described as similar to ponte but with a lot more give. Due to this fact, it also means that when the style has a pleat in it, it does tend to puff up a little bit more. In this case, if I didn’t wear that wide belt, I would end up looking like a beached whale or pregnant!
The fabric also has a lovely sheen, making it look more luxurious than it actually cost me! I haven’t got anywhere to wear this to yet, but there’s a wedding in December, of which I’m looking forward to going because I LOVE weddings and I can wear this dress! Size-wise, I’ve chosen a size up, in a 10, as with all my other dresses and skirts I purchase from Boohoo.
