Hey Melbourne, thanks for those little teasing glimpses of sun that we’re getting so far. I’m glad that the weekend we had was fabulously amazing, thanks to the warmer weather and glorious sunshine. It was so amazing that it felt like summer on Sunday. The beach was packed and I nearly ran over a little boy while I was running. Good thing I had some quick reflexive instinct to stop him from falling back and hitting his head on the pavement. In fact, he even looked up at me and laughed. Gee kid, that was so not funny.
Miss 13 and Master 9 were sitting on the beach enjoying some semblance of summer, with Miss 13 in her new two piece and Master 9 in his rasher vest and swimming shorts. Never mind the fact that the water was far too cold for a swim, it was just that; the little glimpse of what’s to come.
I shared my love for some gorgeous midi skirts and dresses last Friday, and I’m still waiting for the dress I purchased, which is in transit at the moment. With the weather being so lovely at the moment, it also means we have to start thinking of or if not already have, protecting our most valuable assets – our eyes. While the sun might not be as glaring as it is in summer, it doesn’t mean you have to forgo wearing your sunnies. Actually, why the hell not especially when you can pop on some super funky ones too!
I for one am a huge fan of funky, or vintage inspired designed sunglasses. Currently, as spotted in the photo above, I’ve been wearing these ones by *^Derek Cardigan. It’s got that slightly cat-eye retro feel and what’s even more interesting is that it’s made out of bamboo.
If you’re like me and usually have a few sunnies at one go, then let me just show you something else that I’ve had my eye on recently. These ones by Sunday Somewhere (clever name!) from their newly launched “Here Comes The Sun” collection – again, fabulous slogan! I’m crushing on a few of them right now namely:
Don’t you just love the funky round shape of the frames! This also comes in black and white but the white is now sadly sold out! I think the rose gold one, or more like earthy brown, would be easy to match. It’s got a conservative coloured frame but in a funky shape making it that much more interesting and fun.
I’m always drawn to that cat eye shaped frames and this particular one has a subtle vintage vibe with a contemporary touch thanks to the white frame and the funky blue mirror lens. I mean seriously, doesn’t that just remind you of super sunny skies in the summer, sitting at the beach looking all cool and dandy? 😉 .
Finally, we have Kurt, as in after the infamous Kurt Cobain. Remember the ones he wore? Thick rimmed in a rounded semi-cat eye style? Designed after the great man’s sunnies, this one has a lovely contemporary twist thanks to the navy frame – you know that navy IS the new black – and with blue pink gradient lens.
Now the main issue is, which one to choose! Have you got an obsession with sunglasses too? Do you normally go for the safe frames or would you normally go crazy with funky styled sunglasses?
P.S: There’s a 30% discount off ^this range when you use the code HERECOMESTHESUN at the check out, and it ends TONIGHT just before midnight!! So hurry!
