Friday’s Favourites: Midi Skirts & Dresses

Friday’s Favourites: Midi Skirts & Dresses

Midis, whether it be skirts or dresses, have been something that I have a growing love for.  I’m not talking about the bodycon type styles or pencil styles, but more the fit and flare ones.  I think it sort of evokes a sense of girlishness whenever I come across one that I see online.  That’s what I do whenever I have assignments looming in the horizon (on MONDAY!!), I procrastinate do my research for the blog 😉 .

Anyway, here are my picks of midi skirts and dresses that I could only wish to have in my wardrobe… Although, this research can be pretty tempting for a person who is trying to find a distraction from the inevitable!  So I won’t be surprised if I end up putting one or two of them in my shopping cart.

Midi Skirts & Dresses

boohoo midi skirts

L-R: ^Box Pleat Floral Midi Twin Set $50.00,  ^Box Pleat Midi Twin Set $40.00

While these pieces come as twin sets, I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing those tops.  The skirts though?  That’s a different matter altogether!  I love how feminine they look, with the floral print and the soft box style pleats.  Great with a plain white shirt, chambray shirt or a soft camisole.

midi dresses

L-R: ^Full Skirt Midi Dress $50.00,  ^Cutaway Midi Dress $40.00

While I do have a midi dress or two already in my wardrobe, I can’t help but pine for these two simple yet classic styled dresses.  I’ve been eyeing the one on the right for a long time now, then saw it on Dee and thought, damn, I need it in my wardrobe stat!  Both dresses look so elegant and I can easily dress them down with a denim jacket and a pair of brogues.

Are you a fan of midis too?  Have you got any midi pieces in your wardrobe?

I wish I was one of those women who can look good in midis (you being one of them). Midi length dresses and skirts make me look stunted. The length just doesn’t work on my frame. I have large calves but small ankles and when I wear a midi skirt or dress, I look like the dress has cut my body off somewhere. Which is why I tend to only stick to lengths slightly above the knees or maxis.

Remember how you said that lovely maxi skirt made you look not all too flattering? And yet you still wore it to MSFW??? AND THEN GOT PHOTOGRAPHED??? So what I’m trying to say is, never say never. Maybe work on the length of the midi. For me, something that ends just below the knee is still considered a midi. And you can elongate your legs further by wearing heels with them. Plus, I bet you’re the only one that thinks you have large calves. I bet you!! Am I pushing the envelope yet? 😉
