Hands up if you often wished you could wear your summer pieces in winter – tell me I’m not alone… Please… I know that those spaghetti strap maxi dresses are usually made for the warmer months or anything sleeveles for that matter. But, sometimes, I do ignore that fact and simply layer on to create my own winter look with the summer pieces. Call me stubborn, but I call it pushing the limits on my summer pieces 😉 .
I wore this a few months ago, thanks to Tee and Me who sent over this *maxi dress for me to style. I love maxis and this particular one was no exception. The zig zag print is easy to match with pieces I’ve already got and it’s also in a nice, neutral shade.
The dress is also very long on me, so I opted to wear a thin belt and shorten the hem simply by pulling it up at the waist, which also helps to define my waistline a little. The denim jacket not only acts as a back up piece for when the weather turns a bit chillier in the evening but a decorative piece around my waist. That was in summer though.
For winter, I decided to layer it up with a long sleeved top underneath the dress. For the next layer, I wore a waterfall style cardigan, which was in a similar shade to the grey on the print of the dress.
Instead of just letting it fall, I’ve wrapped the longer pieces on the front, around my back, making it look like I’m wearing a top and skirt.
Finally, I added a bit more warmth to my outfit with my favourite faux leather biker style jacket. To keep my legs and feet warm, I’ve worn a pair of tights and a pair of long boots. If you noticed, I’ve also knotted the bottom of one side of the dress to shorten the length but in a more stylish way 😉 .
Another dress from Tee and me is this gorgeous *handkerchief style dress. It is light and airy and the lovely floral print with vibrant colours adds some fun on a dreary winter’s day.
With this dress, I’ve layered with a purple 3/4 sleeved top underneath and a pair of charcoal grey leggings.
Then I added another layer with this long line navy cardigan. The long boots again, helps to keep my legs and feet warm.
Finally, a nice, neutral scarf draped around my neck completes this simple look.
