I’ve been enjoying some mellower sounds this past week. I don’t know why really. It could be the need to chill out and a way to handle all the stress in my life. Or it could be my age, you know, getting a touch nostalgic? So I thought it would be nice for me to share some of the music I’m loving this week.
I loved James Bay’s “Hold Back The River”, but when this song came out, I scrambled to find out who sang it. So glad it was him! Not only does he have an amazingly gorgeous voice but his songs are well-written too. This is a pretty sad but honest song. How many times have you seen couples holding on to a relationship that isn’t working out only to hurt themselves and others in the wake? His song resonates so much with me – well not MY relationship with Mr. C but someone close to me. I think sometimes, people should just let it go, to save more hurt than necessary.
I have to admit that I didn’t really like this song when I first heard it. It actually grew on me though. I had to listen to the lyrics and found it to be such a lovely and sweet song. This song sort of reflects how Mr. C and I met. Let’s just say, we weren’t expecting what we have right now. At. All. We both took a chance and went out of our comfort zone and here we are now! I just hope the ending isn’t our ending though…
Final favourite of this week is this acoustic version of the Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zones’ “Home Is Wherever I’m With You” and Of Monsters & Men’s “Dirty Paws”. Miss 11 loves this medley too. I discovered these girls via Spotify’s Afternoon Acoustic list. There’s quite a lovely mix of acoustic covers and original singers on there.
Once again, this song just describes how I’ve been feeling this week. Home is wherever my family is. They are my home no matter where we are…awww…corny I know, but I’ve been feeling very corny lately. So corny that my kids stopped talking when I burst out saying I loved them at the dinner table. Miss 13 even said, “Wow, that was random and unexpected”. Yeah, that kind of corny and unexpected.
Tell me, what music have you been listening to on repeat this week? I would love to discover some new music I might not have heard of!
