Friday’s Favourites: March 2015 Favourites

Wham bam! It’s hard to believe that we’re now at the start of April already! Yikes! This brings me to this week’s Favourite’s list and on it I’ll be sharing my March favourites.

March 2015 Favourites

The products that made my list last month were those that I not only loved, but helped made life a lot easier for me, especially when I was rushing around in the morning.

Remember that “mystery mascara” I tried a while back?  Well, they’ve finally revealed the identity of this said mascara and it’s actually Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara, which will launch on the 11th April.  I’ve got mixed emotions about the reveal.  Loved the fact that this mascara does what it claims to do, but I’m a bit sad that it’s not a “drugstore” or supermarket product.

This mascara has been designed to eliminate the need to curl your lashes before application.  That in itself is a bonus for someone like me who doesn’t have long, curly lashes.  Plus, it eliminates an extra step for getting ready each morning, which was what it did for me during those last two weeks of March.

Once I realised what the specially designed brush was supposed to do, I tested it’s effectiveness immediately.  The patented “Hook n Roll” brush has been designed to grab each of your lashes to give it a more defined look.  The formula holds and set the curl, making it last for up to 12 hours.  Which by the way it did when I had them on all day from 8am until 8pm that one particular day.  The mascara is buildable, but usually one or two coats is enough for me.  What it doesn’t do though is give volume to your lashes, so if you’re after that, what I’d suggest is to apply a coat of the Roller Dash then followed by a mascara that voluminises your lashes.

Yet another product from Benefit that made it onto my March list is the *Hoola Bronzing Powder.  The compact comes with a brush, so I could easily just dust some onto my face for some quick contouring.  A little is all you need to create a soft contouring effect.  While you could use your own brush, I found the brush that came with the compact made it easy for me to apply just underneath my cheekbones thanks to the straight shaped brush.  Makes a great travel buddy too!

I’ve had this translucent loose powder in my kit for ages but didn’t get to use it until last month.  After watching Wayne Goss’ video on creating longer lasting makeup, I thought I should give this a product a try.  Loved how easily I could dispense the product and that it created a nice matte finish to my overall look.  There were no clumsy mess even when I was in a hurry, in the mornings.  I only needed to twist the top of the dispenser, tap the product up through the holes and quickly pick that up with my kabuki brush.

Finally, a product that gave me just enough flush without that overpowering redness on my cheeks!  I loved the look of the mosaic – that was one of the reasons why I picked this up during my travels in the U.S a few years ago – that had a mix of colours that I simply had to swirl together to create a gorgeous mix of pinks and browns.

The colours are neutral enough yet comes with a hint of pink for a natural flush on my cheeks.  While I love blush that also illuminates, I thought this worked perfectly well when I wanted a more natural finish.

That’s it for March’s favourites.  What were your favourites last month?  Have you tried any of the products I’ve shared on my list?
