Woohoo! It’s Friday and this week, I’m sharing with you my Love, Like & Loathe list. Making this week’s Love list is an unlikely singer – I say unlikely because, the first song he was made popular with actually grated on my nerves, sort of.
I’m talking about Sam Smith, whose song La La La or more like he was featured on Naughty Boy’s La La La, irked me to no end. And then it grew on me. But I still didn’t latch onto this singer. Coincidentally, he also sang “Latch”, another song I also love! The song that had me falling for his voice is the song “Stay With Me”. His voice is just amazingly sexy. He can reach those high notes I can only imagine hitting – ok maybe in the shower where the acoustics helps my voice A LOT! He has just released his album In The Lonely Hour and I’ll be checking it out stat!! I’ll leave you with one of my favourite songs from his current album – Lay Me Down.
You know I love Benefit Cosmetics, especially when it comes to their eye makeup solutions. Their latest yet-to-be released “must-have” product is the *They’re Real Push-Up Liner (rrp$35). It is touted to be a long-lasting, smudge-proof and waterproof gel liner with an “accuflex” tip for you to easily draw that line even on the curved surface of your eyelid. The angled tip also helps you draw that much coveted “winged” liner look. To dispense the gel, you would need to twist the base. Sounds fab doesn’t it? So did it live up to its hype?
I have been wearing this eyeliner ever since I received it last week and while it was super easy to apply a winged liner the first time, I found it was harder to do so the next day. The trick is actually to wipe off any of the gel liner BEFORE you apply a fresh line and to NOT dispense too much of the gel. That way it will glide a lot smoother onto your lids. My winged style eye liner is a lot easier to achieve with the angled tip, but I still need to play around a lot more to achieve a thinner line. That would be something for me to practice on. It’s all about how you manipulate the tip of the pen.
As for longevity, it does last all day – I wore this when I went to watch The Fault In Our Stars and it did not smudge. Granted I only applied it on my top eyelids. I have oily eyelids and was surprised to see that it didn’t end up on my top lids later on at the end of the day. That could also be due to the fact that I applied some nude eyeshadow beforehand, something I normally do before applying any sort of eyeliner. You could however apply some eye primer before application should you choose to do so. You would need a good eye makeup remover or in my case I took them off using the WOTNOT facial wipes or the **Dermalogica pre-cleanse. Either worked perfectly, and then I followed on with my regular **Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel.
To get your hands on this eye liner, be sure to check online or in-store for their pre-sale. Their official launch date is on the 27th June 2014.
Boredom, you read it right. You see, I’m on “holidays” from uni at the moment so besides my regular blogging, wrangling the kids (ok, not much to wrangle really) and doing the odd housework (yawn), I am officially free. I have nothing much to do compared to when I had to attend uni, do lesson plans, research on what to teach, and even work on my assignments. I’ve had friends tell me to take it easy and enjoy this free time that I have right now before it starts getting crazy again (one more month to go!). And they’re right. But that’s just me, I do not know how to chill out! How weird is that? Yesterday I actually took AN HOUR to do grocery shopping and not because I had lots to buy but more because I was strolling down the aisles. I actually had to slow down my walk to the car and take in the sights and sounds around me because let’s face it, I had NOTHING to rush to! I know. Spoilt. I should so enjoy this time really. But, if you’re keen to keep me busy, maybe you’d like to engage in one of my many services 😉 There’s styling, then there’s something to help you with the social management of your business, or even a spot of copywriting? Feel free to drop me a line and hit me up with your needs.
