Friday’s Favourites: What’s In My Bag Edition

I’m skipping Love, Like and Loathe this week to bring you Friday’s Favourites and this time it’s the “What’s In My Bag” edition. I’ve seen a few bloggers sharing what’s in their bag and this is the very first year – ever – that I am not embarrassed by what I’ve got in my bag. Why? Well, in a bid to declutter not just my wardrobe, beauty items and let’s just say life, I have also started to carry a teeny tiny bag to prevent myself from carrying unnecessary stuff in my bag. See, the idea is – the smaller the bag, the less rubbish you would carry.

I got this bag on my trip to the U.S last year, being sold at not only 1/2 price but an additional discount (I cannot remember how much more), I knew this bag would be a great everyday bag – and at times even at night! I love how simple the design is, and pretty functional where I can switch from carrying it as a shoulder bag or as a crossbody bag. Usually it’s the latter.

In order to be ever so efficient when packing my rather small handbag, the main idea is to pack what a) is essential b) I love.

What’s In My Bag

  • As you can see, I am such a bag of surprise aren’t I? I  mean this girl who shuns pink actually has BRIGHT, BOLD pink in her handbag! Ok, so here’s the reason why I have not one but TWO pink items in my bag. First, I believe in “going hard or go home”. When it comes to pink I go with bold pink like fuchsia. Secondly, hello, can you really find anything if you’ve got a black wallet or wristlet? And why the wristlet? Well, another secret – I don’t usually carry my whole bag when I go pick my kids up, it’s usually the wristlet with my trusty phone, car key and yes those are house and P.O Box keys there. Handy right! Both pink items were bought in the U.S by the way – at a huge discount too!
  • Myki card is a definite essential – handy for when I do have to travel on public transport.
  • Mints – need I say more? I’m a coffee drinker and yes I do love my smell emitting food – garlic, onions, the works. So naturally I need my mints. It’s more of a habit really for me to suck on one after a meal.
  • Pack of tissues – again, no need to explain.
  • A pen – for when you need to write something quick, or sign something, or well, you know how people are always asking if you’ve got a pen or not? That’s why.
  • Lipstick and Lip Crayon – As you can see, I have not one but TWO lip products in my bag right now. I keep my lip balm in my car by the way. Well, the funny thing is, both lip products are about the same colour. Don’t ask me why, I just seem to like them both.

The Maybelline Color Whisper is in a gorgeous berry shade, as is the *Sisley Phyto Lip Twist (no.5). It’s a shade I wear really well and the formula on these two products are just divine on the lips – moisturising and well, they just have gorgeous colours!

I bought the Maybelline Color Whisper in Berry Ready (no.85) while I was in the U.S . Pity they haven’t got that shade here. I think it’s a really pretty and wearable colour.

The Phyto Lip Twist is actually a tinted lip balm that gives you not a sheer coverage but actual pigmented colour much like a lipstick. How can I not fall in love with that?!

Now that I’ve shared with you what I carry around in my handy little handbag, maybe you’d like to share what’s in YOUR bag?

Ooh love that sneaky peek into your bag. Such a voyeur. Me, I carry way too much crap in my bag. Haven’t done a what’s in my bag post in a while, but they’re pretty much still the same. 🙂

    • Norlin says:

I think mine started changing when I changed to a much smaller bag. Less likelihood for me to actually be able to stuff more junk in it. 😉

  • You wouldn’t want to see what’s in my bag! Lots of my sons cars and god knows what else. I wish I could wear lipstick as good as you! I never buy it. I only wear lip balm. I always need a pen but never remember to carry one. You are so organised! Thanks for sharing. x

    • Norlin says:

Oh I get where you’re coming from Mama Stylista! I used to find toys, clips, hair pins, hair ties, cars, lego, wipes and so much more…that aren’t even my stuff!

  • Vanessa says:

Gosh I change bags nearly every day so who knows whats in there?! Usually (hopefully) my wallet, keys, sunnies, phone and usually a nappy and maybe some wipes. Occasionally you might also find a banana.

I don’t carry my lip products in my bag because I forget to take them out and then I can’t find them and that is soooo annoying! I love the idea of that small purse for pick up too – I usually take my whole bag or just my phone but keys would be good too. x

    • Norlin says:

I used to keep on adding lipsticks and/or gloss into my bag each time I was using a different one. Once I think I had about 5 or 6 in there.
