Summer Shorts: Target Fashion

disclosure logo

Now, before you think…oh another sponsored post, let me first re-assure you that if you’ve been reading my blog you know that I do shop at Target so, it’s pretty cool that I’ve been chosen as one of their Official Bloggers (see that badge on the right when you scroll down?). I’m really honoured to be able to share my love for fashion AND bargains and get paid to write about it! Basically I’ll be sharing a few finds from Target (and other places of course!), so hopefully you’ll join me on this journey to show you that yes, you can look hot without having to splurge.

With Summer drawing nearer and nearer – yes, I can’t wait either! – the one thing I cannot live without are shorts. But if you’re like me, conscious of how your legs look, then you know it can be quite daunting and tricky to find a pair that:

a) is not so short that it rides up your bottom

b) is pretty comfortable to wear

c) is also a classic that you can wear with almost anything

The one place I know I can find a pair or two that fits these criteria is at Target, and I’m not saying that because they’re paying me to. I’ve had a few pairs from them. I remember having this sort of 3/4 length in a straight but easy fit in denim that one of my friends wanted so much. I loved that pair that I wore until it got worn out that the bit near my butt actually tore. Yes…I wore it to death for 3 years! But each year, it’s like a pilgrimage for me, as scour their catalogue for the perfect pair (or more). This year was exactly the same and luckily for me, I also scored 20% off the shorts I bought when they had a special on last week! BONUS! I mean, seriously, they were only selling for about $35 – $38 to begin with so that’s already pretty cheap for something that’s comfortable and goes with everything!

So what did I end up getting?

Target Casual Shorts with Turn-up Cuffs rrp$35.00

Target Casual Shorts with Turn-up Cuffs rrp$35.00

Top: Pull & Bear (bought in Singapore on my Asia trip)

Fuchsia Casual Shorts: Target  $35.00 bought for $28.00

Blue Ballet Flats: Target $30.00

I loved the fact that the shorts had a flat front, so that it doesn’t emphasise any unwanted bulges. The cotton fabric is light and comfortable and the turned-up cuffs gives it that slightly dressier look, which means I can also wear this to work if I dressed it up with a light cotton shirt. The shorts come in a few other colours but I love fuchsia so, I just had to have it!

Target Dark Wash Boyfriend Shorts with Woven Belt rrp$39.00

Top: T-shirt from New Look (bought in Singapore)

Dark Wash Boyfriend Shorts: Target $39.00 bought for $31.20

Shoes: Converse

Bangle: Colette Hayman

I love a good pair of denim shorts and the ones I’ve bought from Target previously have always had this nice, soft feel. This particular one is no different and the length (ok, maybe I’m shorter so it’s slightly longer) is perfect as it doesn’t show my thunder thighs. The shorts also comes with a belt and it has a nice, straight cut with an easy fit, known as the boyfriend shorts. Great for those easy, breezy weekends.

 T30 Rib Trim Shorts rrp$14.00

Magenta Tank Top: Hot Options (bought 3 years ago)

T30 Rib Trim Shorts: Target $14.00

Runners: Addidas (bought in Singapore 9 years ago)

That’s me trying to show that I’m being “active” yeah..well…ok, ignore that bit. For the gym, I got myself a pair of this charcoal shorts from Target’s activewear T30 range. It’s lightweight, soft and comfortable – yes I wore them today to the gym! The length is acceptable I guess, seeing that they’re not too short for me to feel conscious of but yet still short enough to be comfortable in when I’m working out. And at $14.00 a pair, that is definitely a steal!

There are of course shorts in other cuts, lengths and styles to suit your individual tastes and needs. The great thing is that most of them also comes up to size 20. Then there’s the Hot Options and Free Fusion range. Great for those wanting something a little shorter, with a fun style. And Moda for sizes 16-26.

Are you a fan of shorts? Have you had trouble finding the right style and fit to suit your body shape, size and style? What have been your main concerns when buying shorts?

*I was given $100 Target gift voucher to purchase what I needed. All comments are my own. Stay tuned for another bargain I got from Target that would be great for Summer!
