Remember my problem with storing my jewellery previously? I’ve pinned a few ideas on my Pinterest “Ideas” board to wrap my head around the different possibilities that are out there. My main concern was to:
From my research, I’ve found that containers, hooks and separate compartments would work well. So this was what I came up with:
The clear plastic containers only cost me $1.50 each. They did come with lids, but I I stored that away for something else. I bought some hooks to place onto the inside of my wardrobe door and still utilised the Ikea Skubb Box.
I separated the bracelets and bangles according to type – wooden, beads, silver-tone (not silver) and cuffs. I stored my brooches and earrings in the clear plastic containers and kept all my sterling silver jewellery in the Tiffany & Co jewellery box to keep them from tarnishing. The necklaces were hung up on the hooks, according to type – silver tone, beads and more beads! I did keep some of my other “miscellaneous” jewellery in the Skubb Box, so that I won’t tarnish or scratch them accidentally. My rings stayed in one compartment of the Skubb Box as well, but I kept the more precious ones in a separate box.
Seeing that I was in the mood to re-organise my space, I thought I’d go one further and organise my beauty products too. First, I culled what I didn’t need and gave away some to friends and family and thanks to the Trivia Night at the kids’ school, I gave some to the school too. With what I had left I used a few storage boxes that I had previously purchased from Ikea from their Antonius range – only cost me $4.99 each and I used that in both my bedroom drawers and bathroom vanity. Then, thanks to Lashes and Lattes and The Make-Up Box Shop, I won their Original Make Up Organiser, which I knew would help me re-organise the vanity in my bathroom. The organiser is made out of clear acrylic so that you can see what you’ve stored and the drawers pull out all the way for you to be able to reach what’s right at the back too! Now, I’ve got the products that I use most at the top, within easy reach and the stuff I don’t use that often in the drawers. The best thing is – I don’t have to rummage through my drawers to find what I need!
