Why I Actually Love Toy Sales (And it’s got NOTHING to do with the kids!)

Target Toy Sale

I’m sure by now you would have heard and seen about the Toy Sales that are happening EVERYWHERE! What’s the deal with Toy Sales and this blog you say? Yes, I hear you. Well, wait, just hear me out. While I know this is a blog dedicated to all things beauty, fashion and lifestyle topics that are targeted at women, I do believe toy sales are quite important to those WITH and WITHOUT kids. Seriously. Here’s why.

As you would know by now I’m the hmmmm…not necessarily the Queen of bargains, but I do try my best to NOT buy everything at retail price, unless I know absolutely for sure they will be gone BEFORE they would even dare be put at a reduced price. An example of that would be say  the Zara Basic range. My kids – yes all three of them – Miss 10, Miss 8 and Master 6 have all been ingrained to look out for bargains, or at least wait for things to go on sale. They have also been taught to save up and have a list of what exactly they want when it comes to toys. I say want because really, you don’t really NEED toys – they’re a WANT! Anyway, back to the story at hand. So, each time we receive a catalogue, the kids would pore all over them, looking out to see if what they’ve been pinning for was indeed on sale. And, the Target Toy Sale catalogue is one thing they’ve been hanging out for. Sad but true.

So what’s this got to do with me? Well, think about it, the amount of money I save on the discounted toys I do buy for them – as presents for their birthdays or Christmas – I get to spend on….MYSELF! Yes! See, told you it’s got nothing to do with them?!

For instance, the girls are so in love with the Monster High Dolls. Now I know not many of you out there approve of these weird looking dolls, but I don’t mind them. So long as they don’t look trampy. I love the concept of embracing those that look different or unique and these “monsters” are just that. These dolls usually retail for $29.00 but it’s now selling for only $19.00 – making that a saving of $10.00. Now times that by two – I save $20 to go towards MY own future shopping “necessities”. Master 6 has been saving up for the Skylanders characters. They normally retail for $29.00 for a pack of 3. There wasn’t as much saving for this as it was selling for $25 during the sale, making it a savings of $4.00. Still, I guess it was better than nothing. All up I bought 2 dolls each for the girls, a 3 pack of the Skylanders characters and 2 of the single packs, which I thought was a pretty decent purchase. Now I’ve got their birthdays and Christmas covered! This is also a fab time to buy present for those nieces and nephews that you have and it’s not just toys, there are boardgames, books and creative stuff too.

But, here’s a tip – make sure you have a list of what you intend to get so that you won’t end up spending on things that the child won’t end up playing with. The same rule applies to shopping for kids – just because it’s on sale doesn’t mean you HAVE to get it! So be smart and come prepared.

Have you been to the Target Toy Sale yet? What did you manage to grab that you thought was definitely worth the savings?

Also, if you’re looking to save even more, why not try your luck at winning a $50 Target gift card from the amazing list I’ve included at the bottom:
